Drake and Wayne take the Hollywood Bowl

If you missed the Drake v Lil Wayne show at the Hollywood Bowl I have one thing to say…sorry not sorry.

This was a hot ticket. Scalpers were even more confident than I had ever seen as I walked passed them to get to the Hollywood Bowl. The fact that this was an interactive show, where you could play a part in choosing a winner for the evening (which was Drake as ruled by the crowd) was just the tip of the ice berg. But watching the banter between Drake and his mentor Lil Wayne was truly hilarious.

Suspending our disbelief was no problem when Drake opened the show by saying “I feel like roasting somebody tonight!” Cause even though you know Lil Wayne is proud of his protege, you got the sense that he wanted to prove that age came before groovy. And whether Drake was appealing to the soft side of the ladies in the audience with Find Your Love or boasting on tracks like 0 to 100 or F*ckin Problems, Wayne made one thing clear…he had an answer for all of it! And boy did we love hearing both sides of this battle.

Those who witnessed made no shortage of jokes and comments on twitter and instagram, and for those who couldn’t make it, we borrwed some technology from our friends at WeLink and pulled the best pics and comments from social media – just to give you a taste of what you would have seen and tweeted if you were there. From John Mayer to the fans and friends who ended up backstage…this is the best of Monday nights showdown.

Drizzy kicked off with the simplest of lines that set the twitterverse spinning!!! This was re-tweeted almost 4k times and was favorited over 9k times

From the jump we knew this battle was going to be EPIC!

“I was backstage rollin my mutha f*ckin blunt and I hear this boy say hes feelin like roastin somebody,” Wayne said when he emerged onto the stage. “I stand on this stage for you. And I’ve been doin this sh*t since he was in a wheel chair!”

Drake did his thing which included flying out above the crowd.

“I see that sign that says ‘Grandma loves Drake,'” said the rapper as he shouted people out from above. “I love you too Grandma!”

Our favorite fan Instagram of Drake. The OVO leader was on point

Drake had the ladies in a tailspin over Going Home. “Every time I come to LA I’m looking for something,” he said before launching into his love songs “I hope I find it tonight!”

LiL Wizzy found all the soft talk to the ladies hilarious.

“I see you got the ladies turnt up in this bi*tch! It got sultry in this mutha F*cka,” said Wayne making everybody laugh. “He flew across the crowd n sh*t…on a stripper pole?! All I have to say is anything you can do, I can do better.” And this was his perfect segue into How to Love and Mrs. Officer, shirtless obvi!

Our favorite picture of Lil Wayne.

We just loved this pic! It captured the hype. Lil Wayne has been in the game over 15 years and he’s still got…all of it!

And when they come together Drake and LiL Wayne are unstoppable.

No, they are not doing the kid-n-play? But at some point they had to tell the crowd that they really actually love each other and competition was for show. “All jokes aside, this is my favorite tour,” said Drake. “And I’m so glad we get to come on stage and do what we were born to do.”

Of course the jokes weren’t over for Drake who then proceeded to say “They said you got the hottest baby mamas of all time!” A compliment Wayne immediately smiled and admitted too…awwwww. wink wink.

Front row center stage for Drake and Lil Wayne tonight. Lil Wayne shouted me out on the mic for my sweater and Drake pointed me out twice and sang to me. Dreams do come true.

You know you fly when you have fire on stage.

We had to include a pic of the flames cause by the time they pyrotechnics had started, there were hundreds of posts online pointing out the fact that there was actual fire on stage and the two rappers were also indeed on fire!
